Construction of the Christmas Market has begun – the market will open on 22 November

Construction of the Christmas Market began at the Central Square on Monday, 27 October 2025. During construction, the event area is fenced off as a construction site. The area will be opened to the public on 22 November 2025.

As usual, the Christmas Market will be built in Central Square, between the Old City Hall and Tampere Theater.

–  The Christmas Market is expanding once again and will feature new vendors and an even more diverse selection of goods. The market stalls will offer authentic Finnish handicrafts, unique Christmas gifts, and delicious seasonal treats. The festive atmosphere continues at the Pyynikki Doughnut Café and the Glogg Restaurant, where guests can enjoy both hot and cold drinks alongside traditional Christmas delicacies, says Rami Lehtinen producer of the Christmas Market.

The market’s stage will feature a diverse program of live music and Christmas themed performances. More detailed information about the program will be updated on the Christmas Market website.

The Christmas Market is also open on Independence Day, 6 December, when visitors can admire the Moomin light installations projected onto the buildings in Central Square. The works, based on Tove Jansson’s original drawings, are from the book Moominland Midwinter (1957). 

The Tampere Christmas Market is open from 22 November to 22 December 2025, except for 24–25 November when the market is closed. The area is free of charge and has no age restrictions. Opening hours and an updated program can be found on the Christmas Market website.
